Ohemaa Dynamite who has been accused of stealing GHS 1.5 million belonging to founder of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit crime, to wit stealing, and stealing.
The accused, identified as Ohemaa Serwaa Abigail Owusu Ansah, entered her plea during her second appearance before the Adenta Circuit Court on Friday.
Her appearance follows an earlier court sitting at which she was granted bail in the sum of GH¢1 million, with two sureties. One of the sureties was required to justify the bail with landed property.
However, the court deferred taking her plea during that initial appearance.
Presenting the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, who is prosecuting, told the court that Bishop Daniel Obinim was the complainant and that the accused was his friend.
According to the prosecution, the incident allegedly occurred after Ohemaa Serwaa visited the bishop at his residence at Lakeside on October 13, 2026.
The court heard that the two were having a conversation in Bishop Obinim’s room when the complainant left for church, leaving the accused at the residence.
However, the following morning, at about 7:00 am, the bishop reportedly discovered that his safe had been broken into and GH¢1.5 million taken.
According to the prosecution, when Bishop Obinim confronted the accused about the missing money, she allegedly told him that she had contacted her father’s worker, identified as Owusu.
The worker allegedly arranged for two young men to meet her at the bishop’s residence.
The prosecution further told the court that Ohemaa Serwaa allegedly led the two men into the room and showed them where the safe was located.
The men reportedly broke into the safe, took the money and left the residence.
Chief Inspector Lanyo told the court that the accused was arrested on October 16, 2026, at approximately 2:00 pm and subsequently escorted to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
During investigations, she allegedly admitted in her caution statement that she had invited the two men to Bishop Obinim’s residence to break into the safe and steal the money.
The prosecution indicated that investigations into the matter were still ongoing.
Ohemaa Serwaa has pleaded not guilty to the two charges brought against her. The allegations presented by the prosecution have therefore not been established as facts, and the case remains before the court.
The GH¢1 million bail granted during her previous appearance remains part of the proceedings as the prosecution continues its investigations.
The case has attracted attention because of the substantial amount of money allegedly stolen and the accused’s reported relationship with Bishop Obinim.
