Asante Kotoko have officially appointed South African tactician Eric Tinkler as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The experienced trainer takes charge of the Porcupine Warriors following months without a substantive head coach after Karim Zito left the role earlier this year. During the interim period, assistants Prince Owusu and Mohammed Hamza Obeng oversaw the first team.
Tinkler arrives in Kumasi with an impressive coaching résumé, having managed several top clubs in South Africa, including Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City, SuperSport United, Chippa United, Maritzburg United and Sekhukhune United.
His appointment signals the beginning of a new era for Kotoko as the club looks to bounce back strongly and challenge for domestic honours in the upcoming campaign.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder is expected to bring his vast experience and tactical knowledge to the Ghanaian giants as they continue preparations for the new season.
Kotoko will now hope Tinkler can restore the club to the summit of Ghanaian football and guide the Porcupine Warriors back to sustained success both domestically and on the continental stage.
