Okomfo Anokye Community Bank, at Wiamoase at the Sekyere South District in the Ashanti Region has unveiled a community centre in Wiamoase as the flagship project of its 40th‑anniversary corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
The facility represents a bold investment in local infrastructure designed to strengthen the bank’s social licence and deepen its bond with the community it has served for more than four decades.
The inauguration ceremony drew traditional leaders, customers, and banking officials, underscoring the significance of the milestone.
Board Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Obeng reflected on the bank’s 43‑year journey in Wiamoase, paying tribute to the enduring support of the community and its leadership.
“While our core business of providing loans and financial services addresses immediate economic needs, we recognise that holistic community development requires more than credit alone,” Dr. Obeng said. He explained that the centre is intended to serve as a hub for outdoor events, meetings, and social gatherings, reducing the need for residents to seek venues outside Wiamoase.

Dr. Obeng further clarified that while the bank retains oversight to ensure sustainability, day‑to‑day management of the facility will remain in the hands of the community. “This is Phase One of our anniversary commitment,” he announced. “Phase Two will include the provision of seating and audio systems to fully operationalise the centre.”
The symbolic keys to the facility were handed over to Nana Boakye Yiadom, the presiding chief of Wiamoase, who pledged to safeguard the asset for the benefit of the community. He hailed the project as “transformative” and urged other corporate institutions to emulate such partnerships that blend private initiative with public good.
The new centre is expected to become a focal point for social and cultural life in Wiamoase, reinforcing the bank’s reputation not only as a financial institution but also as a trusted development partner.
As Okomfo Anokye Community Bank celebrates its 40th anniversary, the project stands as a testament to its vision of combining financial services with tangible contributions to community growth.
