Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says the club are targeting the CAF Champions League title after securing their place in Africa’s premier club competition.
The Yellow and Mauve earned their place in the competition after winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title.
Medeama have been drawn against DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the first round of the preliminary stage, setting up a difficult test for the Ghanaian champions.
But Tanko insists Medeama are entering the competition with ambitions of going all the way.
“We are going there as one of the teams to compete, and so winning the CAF Champions League is our objective,” the former Black Stars assistant coach told Asempa FM.
Medeama will begin their campaign at home, hosting Mazembe in the first leg at the TNA Park on 5 September.
The return leg will take place in DR Congo on 13 September, with both matches scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
The Ghanaian champions will be hoping to carry their domestic success into continental competition as they seek to establish themselves among Africa’s leading clubs.
Tanko’s side face a stern early challenge against a Mazembe team with extensive experience in the CAF Champions League, but Medeama will be confident of making a strong start on home soil.
