The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, NPC has set its sights on winning a medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Ghana is still chasing her first medal in the quadrennial event despite making 6 appearances since making her debut in Athens in 2004.
Ahead of the opening ceremony and the main event scheduled between August 28- September 8, 2024, the Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Ignatius Elletey is optimistic of Team Ghana mounting the medal podium.
“So far so good. We have been training very hard before moving to the Games Village. The periodic training by the athletes has been fruitful. The team is in high spirits and poised to defend the flag of our country when the event starts”
“We have been at the para-games since 2004 all through to 2024 without winning a medal. But we are fully convinced that things will change for the better this year. We are praying for a medal to at least compliment the efforts and preparations of the athletes, investments of the nation”.
Ghana will open her campaign with Frederick Asor in the Men’s B 4000m Individual Pursuit Qualifying on Thursday, August 29, 2024, before Patricia Kyerema faces Eleni Papastamatopoulou from Greece in the round 16 of the Women’s K44 +65kg.
