Pink October Golf Tournament Supports Korle-Bu Cancer Unit

In a recommendable display of solidarity, the Achimota Golf Club’s Pink October Golf Tournament has made another substantial contribution to the Cancer Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

The event, organized by the ladies of Achimota Golf Club, successfully raised over GHS 180,000 through a fundraising initiative.

The generous contributions from corporate sponsors and individuals played a pivotal role in acquiring essential equipment for the Breast Cancer Unit at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Additionally, individual golfers collectively contributed towards obtaining the remaining necessary equipment.

Recognizing the significance of corporate responsibility, Elizabeth Essel Koomson, the Lady Captain of Achimota Golf Club, expressed gratitude towards the sponsors and emphasized the importance of their kindness towards civil society.

She expressed also confidence in the medical professionals at the Breast Cancer Unit, led by Dr. Dede and her colleagues, assuring that the acquired equipment would be utilized effectively to benefit patients.

“We thank God Almighty for the opportunity and pleasure given us all to assist others,” concluded Elizabeth Essel Koomson, expressing gratitude for the collective efforts that will undoubtedly make a positive impact in the fight against breast cancer.

The Pink October Golf Tournament also received substantial support from entities such as the World Health Organization, Sun Lodge Hotel, Caveman, and Voltic, who provided logistical support for the successful execution of the event.

Notably, Paterson Simons & Co Africa Limited (Pasico) and Konecranes, as singular contributors, purchased a vital ultrasound scanner for the unit.

Among the corporate supporters were KEK Insurance Brokers, KEK Re, Kwesiakuma Foundation, Star Assurance, GNRE Stellar Logistics/Stellar Travel, Crocodile Matchet, Ayoub Ghandour Perfumery, Ozone, Vasties, Meprolim GhLtd, La Villa Aphro, Travel Paddy, and Tekled Ghana.
