The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on September 22, 2026.
The suspects, identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai, were arrested following investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations established that Nana Yaw Kyere left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic vehicle but failed to return home. Investigations revealed that he was allegedly lured to Philip Tefe’s residence at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
The Police said Tefe and Adams later confessed to their involvement, with Tefe allegedly admitting to attacking Nana Yaw Kyere during a confrontation and hitting him with a metallic object. The victim was subsequently moved to another room, where he was left unattended and later died from his injuries.
Investigators further established that the body was allegedly transported in a Kia Morning vehicle on September 20 to a location near the motorway, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21 and was identified by the victim’s biological mother and uncle at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
Police have also retrieved Nana Yaw Kyere’s iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for allegedly receiving the phone dishonestly.
Josiah Obodai was subsequently arrested over his alleged involvement in the disposal of the body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which Police believe was used to transport the body, has also been impounded.
The three suspects remain in Police custody and are expected to be put before court as investigations continue to identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved in the case.
