The Ghana Police Service were on Thursday morning, January 18, 2024 at Ntoaso near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, supervising the demolishing of properties allegedly belonging to Engineer Oil.
The Police personnel believed to have been drawn from the Police headquarters and the Nsawam District Police Command threatened to arrest one Alhaji Bida Ousman whose property was being demolished.
The two acre land in question at Ntoaso near Nsawam forms part of the Akyem Abuakwa Stool Land and is believed to have been lawfully leased to Alhaji Bida Ousman of Engineer Oil for the construction of an oil marketing company.
Information gathered from the community indicated that a combined team of police officers from the Property Fraud Unit and the Nsawam District Police Command have for the past two weeks taken over the land.
The Police were allegedly called in by a Ga family whose identity is not known yet.
In the early hours of Thursday, the Police went onto the land with two payloader machines and destroyed the walls around the land and the foundation of the building owned by one Alhaji Bida Ousman including several properties worth thousands of cedis.
Meanwhile, the Nsawam District Police Commander, Mr. Ebenezer Benson has denied the involvement of the Nsawam Police Command in the operation.
He disclosed that, the officers who carried the operations came from Accra.
The cause of the demolition is yet unknown.
