A tense confrontation at the Agona Amenfi Palace in the Western Region ended with an armed suspect being shot and arrested by police after he allegedly attacked a palace messenger during preparations for a sod-cutting ceremony.
Reports indicate that the messenger had been dispatched to retrieve a ceremonial hoe for the commissioning of a new maternity ward when the suspect, dressed in a traditional smock and adorned with talismans, allegedly blocked access to the palace, triggering a violent altercation.
The situation escalated into a standoff with police officers, who eventually subdued and arrested the suspect after opening fire.
Both the suspect and the injured messenger were transported to a medical facility for treatment. Police have since launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
