The HR Certification Centre(HRCC) has honoured outstanding Human Resource professionals for their impact on workplace and community development as part of the 2026 International HR Day celebrations.
Among those recognised was Portia Napaaba, (SPHRi), whose work across mining, manufacturing, and energy sectors has consistently demonstrated the strategic value of Human Resource Management in transforming organisations and lives.
With more than a decade in frontline, industry-shaping HR practice, Napaaba has built a reputation for advancing people development, talent growth, employee engagement, and organisational effectiveness. Her professional journey is marked by her conviction that Human Resources is not simply an administrative function, but a powerful force capable of shaping cultures, influencing productivity, and driving sustainable impact.
Beyond the corporate space, Napaaba is also known for her work in youth empowerment and career mentorship. Through various community and professional engagements, she has coached and guided many young people navigating career and professional development pathways.
A notable example was her facilitation of “Internship 101,” a virtual career coaching session for students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Business. Organised through the School’s Career and Guidance Centre, the session gave students practical industry insights, employability strategies, and workplace readiness guidance to help them transition confidently from academia to the workforce.
Napaaba’s contribution to mentorship and professional development reflects her broader view of HR leadership – one that goes beyond policies and procedures to contribute to nation-building, people empowerment, and creating opportunities for others to thrive.
Colleagues described Napaaba as a people-centred professional whose influence has inspired growth, excellence, and professionalism among peers and young practitioners. Her work continues to underscore HR’s evolving role as a strategic partner in organisational success and social development.
Napaaba currently serves as HR Business Partner at Cenpower Operations Limited. She holds globally recognised credentials, including the Senior Professional in Human Resources International (SPHRi) certification from the HR Certification Institute and certification as a Professional Facilitator from Development Dimensions International.
The HR Certification Centre is a Ghana-based professional development institution founded in 2010, and serves as the Approved Certification Preparatory Provider in Ghana for the Global Professional HR Certifications awarded by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), USA.
Napaaba’s recognition from the HR Certification Centre celebrates both her personal achievements and the broader value of impactful HR leadership in building resilient organisations, empowered people, and stronger communities.
