The ocean cackles, as weave after weave foams at the mouth, before dissolving around the legs of revellers observing the final rites to close the third and final phase of the 2026 Lalue Kpledomi festival by the People of Prampram Traditional Area.

Among those gathered at the beach include the Paramount Chief Nene Tetteh Wakah III, Queenmother Naa Osabu I, divisional chiefs and their Queenmothers as well as priests. Unlike previous years, this year’s spiritual rites at the beach were performed by two priests. Numo Osheku Teye Nartey IV, from Osheku Wem, performed the first rite.

He was then followed by Nii Larbia. The two priests asked for blessings for the now and the future. The Kplemia or drum was then dipped into the water- after which everyone present was allowed to wash in the sea. The washing signals cleansing from past mishaps, as well as the invitation of blessings.Chief Executive of PramCitiTV Aaron Akwetey Botchwey, who has been using his platform to highlight the importance of the festival, says it was about time the traditional authorities look re-look at the festival and how they can push it beyond the borders of Prampram.

“ We have been covering this festival as a channel for almost five years now, and I think it is only right that we find a way to incorporate business entities into it, “ he said..” The beauty of the festival is authentic and it is important we don’t lose that value.”

“We need a proper committee that will put together proper proposals to corporate entities, so, we can also elevate the festival to another level,”

Prampram has come a long way as a town and we cannot allow all these culturally significant activities to go without being properly documented, he added.
