There are seven exciting Premier League matchups set for Sunday October 6, 2024, with defending champions FC Samartex 1996 as well as  Asante Kotoko, Berekum Chelsea and Nsoatreman FC all in action with a lot at stake for all teams involved this weekend.

Asante Kotoko vs Accra Lions

Asante Kotoko SC welcome Accra Lions to the Len Clay Sports Stadium in a tricky match on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors jumped to second on the league table after their narrow 1-0 win over Nsoatreman FC in an outstanding encounter on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors will head into the fixture in a confident mood as they lie second on the table with eight points from four matches.

Accra Lions thrashed Nsoatreman FC 3-1  in their last Premier League match at home to end their winless start to the new Premier League campaign.

Lions have scored 4, conceded 5 and are currently 12th in the league table. Lions after such stellar performance in their previous game,  will aim for their second straight win in the league.

Asante Kotoko has played Accra Lions three times at home in the league since 2020/21 season with Asante Kotoko winning two and losing one.

In the 2021/22 season Asante Kotoko beat Accra Lions 3-1, won 4-0 in the 2022/23 season and suffered a 2-3 defeat in the 2023/24 season. 13 goals were recorded in those encounters ahead of the clash.

Karela United vs FC Samartex 1996

Defending champions FC Samartex 1996 travel to the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium to battle Karela United on match week 5 of the Premier League.

United, 11th on the league table, with four points, have scored three goals and conceded three in the process.  The Tamale Based recorded a 2-0 win over Legon Cities in the capital last weekend and and will hope to snatch their second straight win on Sunday. They head into this fixture with just one home defeat in the league season 2023.

The Timber Giants, who are winless in their last eight away games since 2023, have one outstanding game to spare.

Karela United have played FC Samartex 1996 twice at home in the league since the Timber Giants gained promotion into the top-flight league in the 2022/23 season with Karela United wining in both encounters.

In the 2022/23 season, Karela United beat FC Samartex 1996 1-0 and recorded a 4-2 victory in the 2023/24 season.

Nsoatreman FC vs Legon Cities

Legon Cities travel to the Nana Konamansah Park to face Nsoatreman FC in a titanic match day 5 fixture.

The Nsuatre-based side are currently 15th in the league table with three accumulated points, having scored three and conceded three goals in their two league outings.

They have one outstanding game to play in match week three against Berekum Chelsea. The Nsuatre lads are yet to taste a defeat in their last nine home league games since 2023 and were the second side with the least number of goals conceded at home last season (7).

The visitors remain winless in the league since the start of the new campaign.  Paa Kwesi Fabian’s charges enter the fifth round at the bottom of the league table having secured just one point (D 1, L 3) and they’ve conceded a joint-league high six goals prior to this game. They hold the record of the longest consecutive away defeats in the league (10) .

Nsoatreman FC have played Legon Cities twice at home in the league since they gained promotion into the Premiership in the 2022/23 season with Nsoatreman FC winning one and drawing one.

In the 2022/23 season,  Nsoatreman FC drew goalless with Legon Cities and won 2-0 in the 2023/24 season.

GoldStars FC vs Bechem United

GoldStars FC entertain Bechem United at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani on Sunday, seeking to continue their impressive start to the season.

The Miners are unbeaten so far after recording two wins and two draws, scoring three and conceding one in the process.

GoldStars FC were the second team with most goals scored (34) at home last season and will hope to grab all the points on Sunday.

A 1-0 triumph over Dreams FC last weekend extended Bechem United point’s accumulation to 5 and are currently 9th in the league table after match week 4.

The Hunters have scored one and conceded two goals. After ending that winless run last weekend, Bechem united will be keen to keep up with their recent form gained ahead of this game.

GoldStars have played Bechem United three times at home in the league since 2020/21 season with Gold Stars winning two and one ending in a draw.

In the 2021/22 season, GoldStars beat Bechem United 1-0, repeated same score line in the 2022/23 season before drawing 1-1 in the 2023/24 season.

Berekum Chelsea vs Young Apostles

Berekum Chelsea welcome Young Apostles to the Golden City Park in a Bono derby on Sunday on match week 5 in the top-flight.

Chelsea head into the encounter on the back of their 1-1 stalemate against Asante Kotoko last weekend. The Berekum-based side lost just two games at home last season and will aim for victory on Sunday to continue that impressive home form.

Premier League newcomers Young Apostles recorded their first win last weekend at home against two-time league winners Aduana FC after scoring a last gasp winner. They are currently 9th in the league table with 5 points.

The Wenchi based have recorded one win, two draws and suffered one defeat. Young Apostles have scored four and conceded five goals so far.

Both sides are meeting for the first time in the league after Young Apostles gained promotion into the Premier League this season.

Dreams FC vs Nations FC

Dreams FC welcome Nations FC to their new home at the Tuba Astro Turf on match week 5 on Sunday October 6, 2024.

The Believers will be hoping to end their winless run since the start of the 2024-25 Premier League season. Dreams lost 1-0 at Bechem United last weekend.

They need to restore some positive momentum in their home game this weekend to end that winless run. They have amassed just three points from four games. Dreams FC were the third best home side last season and scored the most goals at home (35).

Dreams FC have played Nations FC once at home in the league since the Abrankese lads gained promotion into the Premier League last season as Dreams FC won by 1-0.

Vision FC vs Holy Stars

Vision FC welcome Premier League new boys Basake Holy Stars to the to the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex Sunday.

The two teams are meeting for the first time in the top-flight since they both gained promotion this season.

Vision FC will be aiming to return to winning ways after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena last weekend. They’ve won one, drawn twice and suffered one defeat so far.

Basake Holy Stars are without a win since their famous 1-0 win at Hearts of Oak in their opening  Premier League match in Accra.

They’ve scored two, conceded three and are currently 13th in the league table with four points.
