The Executive Chairman of Krif Ghana Limited, Rev. Kennedy Okosun, has emphasised the importance of prioritising security for valuables before complementing it with insurance coverage.
Speaking at a press briefing ahead of Krif Ghana’s 39th-anniversary celebrations and the launch of new Diplomat Premium Safes, Rev. Okosun highlighted the irreplaceable nature of certain items such as historic artifacts, family heirlooms and sensitive documents which make security measures indispensable.
“While insurance is essential for replacing lost valuables, some items – especially those of historic or sentimental value – cannot be substituted. This is why it is crucial to invest in robust security systems to protect personal and organisational assets of high value, with insurance serving as a complementary measure,” he explained.
He likened security and insurance to two sides of the same coin, with security measures aiming to prevent incidents and minimise threats while insurance acts as a safety net when unforeseen events occur.
Rev. Okosun illustrated his point with examples – noting that during auctions of artworks and artifacts, it is only the originals or historic pieces with significant provenance that retain value. Similarly, he said, a priceless family heirloom lost to a disaster cannot be replaced by insurance.
“Some personal and organisational belongings, such as documents, evidence materials, jewellery and historic artifacts, are simply priceless. No insurance premium can replace them, which is why their security must come first,” he stressed.
He also endorsed the use of high-quality security safes, describing them as essential investments. “Top-quality safes, like those we offer, are burglar-proof, fireproof and waterproof, ensuring absolute safety for valuables,” he added.
