Former Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has backed Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams concerns over the lack of high-profile players and personalities ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.Adams, speaking at the Ghana Football Associations 32nd Ordinary Congress, questioned who exactly clubs were asking Ghanaians to come and watch when the 2026/27 campaign begins. The new Ghana Premier League season is about to start. Who exactly are we asking Ghanaians to come and watch? Adams asked, while also questioning where the leagues star players and marketable personalities were.Ogum believes the Ministers concerns raise important questions about the development of players and the leagues ability to produce personalities capable of attracting supporters to stadiums. And then again, if you look at the speech by the Minister, the questions he posed are the very questions that he posed: Are we developing players? Where are the wow players? Where are the showcase players? And I think those are big questions, Ogum said.He referenced former Ghana stars such as Stephen Appiah, Mohammed Ahmed Polo, ‘Golden Boy’ Abdul Razak and Tony Baffoe, arguing that they once had enough appeal for supporters to pay to watch them.Who is he or she going to watch? That is the million-dollar question that we all have to answer, especially somebody like me who is a coach, he added.Ogum also stressed the importance of a proper pathway from youth teams to the senior national side, citing Ghanas 2010 Black Stars squad as an example of successful player development.
