Ghanaian artiste Rcee has revealed that his journey into music was not part of his original plan, explaining that peer influence during his school days played a major role in shaping his career.

In a candid  interview with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie on Hitz FM, the singer disclosed that he once had strong ambitions of becoming a professional footballer.

Reflecting on his early years, Rcee said his focus was entirely on football and he nearly took it to the next level.

“About 10 years ago, if you had asked me what I wanted to do, I would have said football because I was really, really into it. I almost went professional,” he stated.

Despite his passion for the sport, Rcee said that his interests began to shift while in high school. According to him, although he had the ability to sing, he never intended to pursue music seriously at the time.

“I could sing back then, but I never had plans to pursue music seriously. It actually started out of peer pressure but a good kind of peer pressure,” he explained.

The ‘Agenda’ hitmaker recounted how being surrounded by friends who were actively involved in rap music encouraged him to give it a try.

“Boys were rapping, and I decided to join in because I knew I could do it and even do it better. One day, they pushed me on stage, and I performed. The reaction from the crowd was amazing, and that’s when I started loving it,” he said.

Rcee added that his growing involvement in school performances, particularly during entertainment weeks, helped strengthen his interest in music. These events, which often included visits to girls’ schools, exposed him to larger audiences and boosted his confidence.

“I loved the vibe, performing, the energy, the attention. That’s when I realised this could actually be my calling,” he noted.
