Managing Director of National Investment Bank (NIB), Mr Samuel Sarpong has threatened to sue Joy FM, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group for allowing Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo to make defamatory statements against him on their platform.

Hon. Adongo is said to have indicated on the September 28 edition of the ‘Top Story’ program hosted by Evans Mensah that Mr. Samuel Sarpong has zoom-managed the Bank for over a year from Canada.

However, a demand notice signed by lawyers for Mr. Sarpong has described the statement as misleading, malicious, scandalous, demeaning, and without any truth purportedly done to promote the malicious narrative that their client was responsible for the financial troubles of the Bank.

It adds that the said malicious statement and its subsequent publication on MyJoyOnline has caused considerable damage to the character, image, and standing of Mr. Sarpong in his profession both locally and internationally.

He is, therefore, demanding a retraction and an apology from the station and expunging of a story published titled; “NIB MD Managed bank from Canada via Zoom for close to a year” – Isaac Adongo, which was widely circulated.

Further, Mr. Sarpong is seeking from Multimedia Group and Hon. Isaac Adongo; a statement of retraction of apology for the said statement within forty-eight (48) hours which should also be published through the same medium for the same traction.

Also, he requires the Multimedia Group to pull down from all its social media outlets publications of Hon. Adongo’s interview while expunging the said article from its records and website.
