Samartex head coach Annor Walker has revealed the inspirational words behind the performance of his club when they faced Hearts of Oak at the Nsenkire Stadium on Sunday.
The debutants still hoping to survive at the end of the season were honouring one of their toughest fixtures at the venue having lost just two home games against Bibiani Gold Stars and Asante Kotoko.
Samartex showed determination throughout the game as they got an early goal which was later overturned by Hearts of Oak who scored equalised before halftime and took the lead in the first half.
However, Annor Walker’s men bounced back to win 3-2 in storage time to keep their survival hopes alive.
Speaking to GPL Xpress on TV3, Walker revealed that he urged his boys to deem it a must-win match at all cost
“It was a match dear to my heart. Throughout the week, I psyched and motivated the boys with my words.
“I told them it was a must-win match at all costs. And I’m sure you saw the way we played yesterday. The hunger, the motivation, the seriousness that we took into the game,” he said.
Samartex are now eighth on the table with 42 points after 30 matches. They will play relegation-threatened King Faisal in their next match.
