
Sankara Nationals preserved their unbeaten start to the UMB Division One League season with a 1-0 win over newly promoted Steadfast FC at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre.
Bawa Hafiz scored the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute, producing an excellent strike to give Sankara Nationals the advantage before half-time.
Steadfast FC were unable to find a response after the interval, allowing Sankara Nationals to protect their lead and claim all three points.
Mighty Royals extend winning run
Wamanafo Mighty Royals recorded their second consecutive victory with a convincing 4-1 away win against K.A.C Soccer Academy at Nana Konamansa Park on Sunday.
The visitors moved in front just before the break when James Abu put through his own net in the 44th minute.
Abu made amends three minutes after half-time, scoring in the 48th minute to bring K.A.C Soccer Academy level.
Wamanafo Mighty Royals restored their lead in the 78th minute, with Clarence Don Bortey finishing well to make it 2-1.
Osman Zakaria settled the contest with two late goals. He scored in the 88th minute before finding the net again in the fifth minute of added time, completing a 4-1 victory for the visitors.
Berekum City claim first win
Newly promoted Berekum City FC secured their first victory of the campaign by defeating Giants Real Tamale United FC 1-0 at the Kurt E.S Okraku Technical Centre in Winkogo on Sunday.
The match remained goalless throughout the opening 45 minutes, but Berekum City FC broke the deadlock in the 71st minute.
Hendrick Acheampong provided the decisive moment with a well-taken finish, and Berekum City FC held on to take the points.
The result ended their winless beginning to the season, while Real Tamale United FC were left to reflect on a disappointing away defeat.
