Ghanaian rapper Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie has paid homage to gospel musician Bernice Offei and the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba during the 2026 edition of his annual Rapperholic concert, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 24.

The concert brought together thousands of music lovers for a night of performances, cultural displays and tributes, highlighting Sarkodie’s continued influence on Ghana’s music industry.

One of the notable moments of the event was the rapper’s tribute to Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, whose contribution to Ghanaian highlife music continues to resonate with musicians and fans across generations.

Sarkodie also paid homage to gospel musician Bernice Offei, acknowledging her contribution to Ghanaian music and adding a gospel dimension to the evening’s celebration.

The concert featured performances from several Ghanaian artistes, including Dope Nation, Mr Drew, Lasmid, Oseikrom Sikani, AratheJay and Sister Afia. King Promise also joined Sarkodie on stage, adding to the night’s highlights.

Beyond the performances, the event demonstrated the growth of Sarkodie’s Rapperholic brand, which began in 2012 and has developed into one of Ghana’s recognised annual music concerts.

The 2026 edition marked the second consecutive year the concert was held in Kumasi, following the 2025 edition, dubbed Rapperholic: The Homecoming. The move to the Ashanti Regional capital has expanded the event beyond its long-standing association with Accra’s December entertainment calendar.

The massive turnout at Baba Yara Sports Stadium also highlighted the rapper’s ability to mobilise fans from different parts of the country to fill up the 40,528 seats.

Sarkodie has also highlighted the economic potential of the concert, noting that events of this scale can support businesses in tourism, hospitality, transportation, food, fashion and other areas of the orange economy.

His latest Rapperholic concert further reinforces the importance of music events as platforms for celebrating Ghanaian culture, honouring influential musicians and creating opportunities for artistes and businesses.

As the concert continues to grow beyond its original Accra base, Rapperholic 2026 has added another chapter to Sarkodie’s career as ambassador for the creative arts KNUST community and his relationship with fans in the Ashanti Region and across Ghana.
