The Sekondi High Court has granted an interim injunction restraining the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from conducting its Electoral Area Elections in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, hours before the scheduled polls.

The election – slated for Wednesday, June 10, 2026 – was halted following a court order obtained by a group of aggrieved party members challenging aspects of the internal electoral process.

The plaintiffs – Andrew Adade, Daniel Quaicoe, Francis Kwakye Amprofi, Dominic Boakye Acheampong and Michael Arhin – filed the suit against the NPP, the party’s Western Regional Secretary, Western Regional Chairman, Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency Chairman and Constituency Secretary.

In its ruling, the court restrained the defendants, their agents, assigns and representatives from proceeding with organisation and conduct of the electoral area elections pending determination of the matter before it.

The order further bars the party from declaring or recognising any results from the elections or taking any additional steps connected to the electoral process in the constituency.

The legal action follows concerns raised by some party supporters over alleged irregularities in conducting the constituency’s internal elections, prompting calls for a review of the process.

The injunction effectively places the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Electoral Area Elections on hold until further directions are issued by the court or the matter is otherwise resolved by the parties involved.
