Italian Serie A side Como have emerged as the first club to make a move for Ghana defender Jerome Opoku following his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports indicate the Italian outfit has opened preliminary talks with the 27-year-old’s representatives as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. However, Como face competition for the Black Stars centre-back, with clubs from Spain and England also monitoring his situation.
A Spanish club and a newly promoted English Premier League side are both believed to be interested in securing Opoku’s signature during the summer transfer window.
Como are reportedly considering the Istanbul Basaksehir defender as an alternative should they fail to sign Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah or lose highly rated defender Jacobo Ramon.
Opoku has been one of Ghana’s standout performers at the World Cup, producing commanding displays in defence. He missed the Black Stars’ final group match against Croatia with a minor injury but is expected to return for the Round of 32 clash against Colombia.
The Ghana international remains under contract with Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir until 2027, with his growing reputation expected to attract further transfer interest after the tournament.
