UK-based Ghanaian musician, Stephanie Benson, has shared candid advice for married couples on how to keep their sex life exciting, saying intimacy can become routine just a few years into marriage if couples do not make a conscious effort to keep things fresh.
In a video shared on her social media page, the singer, who has been married for 37 years, said many couples experience a decline in excitement in their sex life after the first few years of marriage because of familiarity.
According to her, it is common for sex to become “boring” after two or three years of marriage as it gradually turns into a routine.
“There are some topics about marriage that men don’t want to hear and women don’t want to say, but I am going to say it to you. Those who are married, have you realized that after two or three years, sex becomes boring and not fun? Because you have seen the same private part for so long, it becomes a usual routine. And it’s boring.
“I’ve been married for 37 years and it is boring… let me emphasize that it is boring. At least for us it lasted for three years. Some don’t get it that way; for some it’s one year,” she stated.
The musician explained that once couples reach that stage, they should intentionally introduce new ideas to keep their intimacy exciting. She revealed that she and her husband at one point began planning aspects of their intimate life, including deciding when they would be intimate, what she would wear and other activities they believed helped rekindle the excitement.

The ‘Go to Girl’ hitmaker also recalled one spontaneous experience where she and her husband drove to a park and became intimate while she sat on the car, saying such moments helped break the monotony that can develop over time in long-term marriages.
Stephanie Benson further encouraged women not to stop taking care of their appearance after the first years of marriage, saying looking attractive for their partners remains important. She urged men to understand how to satisfy their wives, saying such deliberate efforts can help couples maintain a fulfilling sex life over the years.
The musician also advised couples to explore different ways of keeping their intimacy exciting, including planning their intimate moments, trying new experiences and, for couples who are comfortable with it, watching pornography together as a way of stimulating their interest and adding variety to their sex life.
