The Managing Director of Sikkens-Ghana and Alisa Hotels, Mr. Kwame Ofosu Bamfo has presented a newly completed one-unit Doctor and Nurse bungalow to the Tease Presbyterian Hospital at Tease in the Affram Plains District, in line with the companies’ health promotion scheme.
The companies, as part of their corporate social responsibilities, offered to complete work on the bungalow, which had been abandoned for over 20 years, to help solve the accommodation challenges facing health workers at the Tease Presbyterian Hospital.
The building which was completed and fully furnished at the cost of GHC800, 000 was presented to the hospital authorities at a ceremony held at the premises of the bungalow at Tease.
The companies also sank a mechanized borehole fitted with water tanks at the Tease Hospital to ensure constant supply of water to the facility.
Besides the completion of works on the abandoned doctor and nurse bungalow, Mr. Bamfo also registered about 1200 people in the Tease community for the National Health Insurance Scheme under the auspices of the Affram Plains Development Organisation, (APDO), a local non-governmental organization (NGO).
The current humanitarian gesture by the companies come on the back of renovation works, presentation of beds and a generator to the Tease Hospital earlier as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of Sikkens’ operations in Ghana, which was celebrated in 2015.
According to Mr. Bamfo, he and his companies have been supporting the Tease community over the years because, “Tease is dear to my heart. Although I am a native of Obomeng Kwahu, my parents settled at Tease, where I attended the Roman Catholic (RC) Primary School and the Local Assembly (LA) Presbyterian Middle School”.
“Health is wealth, so I encourage everyone to take care of themselves. My companies and I will also continue to do our best to support health programmes and facilities as our contribution to the well-being of the people,” Mr Bamfo said.
The Gyaasehene of Tease, Nana Asiedu Dankyi, who happens to be a classmate of Mr. Bamfo at the Tease Local Assembly (LA) Presbyterian Middle School graced the occasion and commended Mr Bamfo for his personal support for the development of the Tease community as well as his companies’ funding of several projects at the Tease Presbyterian Hospital.
The newly completed bungalow was dedicated by the Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Deborah Mante, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
In another development, Mr. Ofosu Bamfo has been honoured by the state for the role he and others played in the fight against COVID-19. He received the ORDER OF THE VOLTA – COMPANION for his role as a Trustee of the Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund.
He was among some Ghanaians who were on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, recognised for excelling in their various fields of national endeavour over the years.
