GFA club licensing manager Esme Mends has expressed concern about the state of some football pitches across the country.

The Club Licensing Department of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) commenced inspections on Thursday, August 8th, 2024, to assess facilities submitted by elite clubs for the 2024/25 season.

The new Club Licensing Regulations require all elite clubs to provide main venues, alternative venues, and training facilities.

“We have started we started on the 8th of August last week we went to Eastern Region first and looked at some of the centers from there we went to Volta Region the Greater Accra. On Monday we traveled up North I am still there as I speak with you we have looked at Tamale Sports Stadium, gone to Nalerigu gone to Walewale we have checked the whole place,” he told Peace FM as monitored by Footballghana.com

“We are going to Sunyani next Bono Regions, Ashanti, Western, Central then we are done. Some of the pitches are not too good be very honest with you there are not too good if we start the league today I believe very well that some centers will not be ready for the season but some are ok there are not yet at the standard.

“We have advised them accordingly so if there are able to get it right because we will come and do reinspection the date is there we have given them the report so they know what to remove and add they know that,”
