Nigerian Afrobeat act Wizkid has released the music video for a song off his 2023 “Soundman 2 EP.” ‘Ololufe’ featuring Wade Coal, ‘Diamonds’, ‘Energy’, and ‘IDK’ were among the four singles in the Nigerian superstar’s playlist.
After his mother’s funeral, Wizkid first declared he was taking a hiatus from music; nevertheless, the superstar did a 180-degree turn and hinted at his next EP. Many fans first replied with skepticism. It was easy to see this latest declaration as just another case of misplaced optimism given his history of making promises about new music that never materialized.
The video, expertly directed by DK, explores life’s uncertainties and the capacity for resilience in a magnified way. It goes beyond simply being a visual depiction of the song. The line “Tough times don’t last but tough people do, we go stand tall” from his song serves as evidence of this. The captivating beat of the song is perfectly complemented by the images. The stunning images and cinematography emphasize the artist’s prior statement about collaborating with God. At one point in the music video, there’s a shot where the artist has a tattoo of the word “PRAY” on his neck.
