The future of Ghanaian dancehall is looking bright, and superstar Stonebwoy has his eyes on one rising talent in particular: Aklerh.
In an interview with OkayAfrica Channel, the acclaimed reggae-dancehall icon named Aklerh as a leading figure to watch in Ghana’s music scene, following her win as Female Dancehall Artiste of the Year at the maiden edition of the Ghana Reggae Dancehall Awards.
Aklerh’s win has been celebrated as a breakthrough moment for the burgeoning artiste, who has captivated fans with hits like Money Labadi Gyal, Odo Se Okor, and Badmind. Stonebwoy’s endorsement solidifies her status as a rising force in the industry.
Aklerh, still riding high from her awards win, expressed her deep appreciation for the endorsement: “It feels surreal. Winning the award was already a dream come true, but having Stonebwoy acknowledge my work is truly humbling. I’m inspired to push even harder.”
This combination of critical acclaim and industry endorsement positions Aklerh as a leading voice in the next generation of Ghanaian dancehall, ready to take the international stage by storm.
The dancehall diva appeared on the scene about two years ago and has been steadily paying her dues, hosting her maiden concert in August this year at the Laboma Beach Resort which featured a galaxy of reggae and dancehall stars including Ras Kuuku, Konkarah Jahvybz and Osagyefo among others.
She currently has an EP dubbed Dancehall Queen out on all streaming platforms in addition to a number of singles.
