English-born Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey says he is excited to begin a new chapter with Queens Park Rangers after completing his move to the Championship club.

The 25-year-old joins QPR determined to revive his career after an injury-hit spell in Italy, where recurring fitness problems limited him to just one competitive appearance for Fiorentina.

Speaking after sealing the move, Lamptey said the club’s vision and ambitions convinced him to make the switch.

“I’m excited for the opportunity ahead. When I spoke to the gaffer and Christian (Nourry), the project was an encouraging one. The team have ambitious goals for this season, so I’m looking forward to it.”

The defender also expressed confidence in his ability to return to his best after overcoming his injury setbacks.

“I know what I’m capable of and I set myself high standards. I had a great start to my career, and I’ll keep continuing that.”

Lamptey will now be hoping to enjoy a consistent run of games and play a key role as QPR target a successful 2026/27 Championship campaign.
