Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has thanked Ghanaians for their unwavering support after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end following a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32.
The Black Stars exited the tournament after an encouraging run that saw them qualify from Group L with four points, reaching the knockout stage for the first time in 16 years.
Reacting to the elimination, the Manchester City striker admitted the disappointment within the squad but expressed gratitude to the fans who backed the team throughout the tournament.
“Words can’t describe how I feel. The team wanted more, and I wanted more. To all Ghanaians, thank you for your incredible support and for traveling across America to cheer us on,” Semenyo said.
The 25-year-old remained optimistic despite the setback, insisting the experience would make the Black Stars stronger in the future.
“This isn’t a loss, it’s a lesson learned. We’ll be back stronger. Believe that,” he added.
Semenyo arrived at the World Cup on the back of his best club season and a high-profile move to Manchester City. Although he featured in all four of Ghana’s matches, the forward was unable to register a goal or an assist during the tournament.
