A 24-year-old mobile money (MoMo) vendor in Kwadaso in the Ashanti region was found murdered to death in his room at the Old VAG area on Monday.

Boateng Junior was found with several stab wounds and a slit throat, according to 3News. His body was found lifeless in a pool of blood.

Unconfirmed reports allege the assailants made off with over GHC 200,000 in cash.

The deceased reportedly runs a very successful MoMo venture at the new Racecourse market, having previously worked out of the Kwadaso onion market.

According to neighbors of the deceased, Junior often returns home with large sums of money from his workday. They believe he returned home on Saturday with a large sum of money, which attracted robbers to him.

Authorities believe he might have been trailed home from work to his house and attacked within his home.

Junior was killed and was not discovered until a stench came out of his room on Monday, leading authorities to investigate.

This robbery comes on the heels of a similar recent murder in Kumasi where Patricia Nimako, a 27-year-old MoMo vendor, was shot dead at Kofrom. Nimako, unlike Junior, was killed while at work after the assailants approached her pretending to be customers. Following the murder, robbers bolted with Ghc 10,000 and an unidentified number of mobile phones.

Meanwhile, police are reportedly investigating the murder of Junior. No suspects has been arrested so far.
