An Adenta Circuit Court has handed 20 years imprisonment each to two persons for robbing a phone repairer of his laptop, mobile phones and other personal effects.

The accused persons; Bright Adjei Boaten, 21, and Sulley Iddrisu, 18, who were on motorbike, pulled out a cutlass on the complainant, David Ossan Kwabla, and made away with the items.

Charged with conspiracy to commit crime namely robbery and robbery, Boateng and Iddrisu pleaded guilty.

The trial judge, Angela Attachie, convicted them on their own pleas and sentenced them to 20 years imprisonment on each charge.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo told the court that the complainant, David Ossan Kwabla, was a mobile phone repairer residing at Adenta-Commandos in Accra.

Boateng and Iddrisu also resided at Madina Ritz Junction.

On November 8, 2025, at about 11:30 p.m, the complainant, who had closed from work, was stopped at the Adenta Lotto Kiosk area by the accused persons, riding an unregistered Royal Motor bike.

Prosecution said Boateng, who was the pillion, pulled out a cutlass and asked the complainant to hand over his black bag or else would slash him.

Based on the threat the two succeeded in robbing David of a Samsung x8 mobile phone, HP Notebook laptop, LG mobile phone, and a Techno phone.

They also took his other bag containing ATM and Ghana cards and sped off.

The complainant reported the matter to the police and the accused persons were arrested after several investigations.

They admitted the offence in their caution statements.
