South African singer Tyla has added two more trophies to her growing collection after a standout night at the 52nd American Music Awards held on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
She won Best Afrobeats Artist for the second year running, edging out nominees including Ghana’s Moliy and Nigeria’s Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Rema. She also made history as the first international act to win Social Song of the Year with her hit single “Chanel.”
The AMAs, hosted by Queen Latifah, are fully fan-voted based on sales, streaming, and social engagement, reflecting the strong support behind Tyla’s global rise. Her track “Chanel,” which explores themes of self-worth, has now surpassed hundreds of millions of streams and achieved top 10 status on global Spotify charts.
