A UK-based Nigerian man in his early 40s has reportedly expressed his desire to marry a Nigerian woman on the condition that she remains in Nigeria after their marriage.
The unusual marriage proposal was contained in a post shared by Ikenna Nwatu on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
According to the post, the man is specifically searching for a mature and beautiful Igbo woman who is ready for a serious relationship that could lead to marriage.
However, unlike many Nigerians living abroad who seek partners with the intention of relocating them overseas, the man reportedly wants his prospective wife to remain in Nigeria.
The post explained that the man would continue living in the United Kingdom while travelling to Nigeria to visit his wife approximately three or four times every year.
“Our single brother in his early 40s based in the UK is looking for a serious lady in Nigeria to marry,” part of the post read.
“He doesn’t want a UK based lady and the Nigerian lady will remain in Nigeria after marriage while he visits up to 4 times a year. A beautiful matured Igbo lady.”
The arrangement has attracted attention online, particularly because of the man’s decision to specifically rule out a UK-based woman and his preference for a wife who would remain in Nigeria.
The post also claimed that his preference is influenced by his belief that some women change negatively after relocating abroad.
