Sir Raj Mohan, Chairman of Unichem Ghana Group, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the CEO Summit 2026 – one of Ghana’s leading platforms for business leadership, public policy and economic dialogue.
The award recognises his contribution to business development, healthcare, entrepreneurship and institution-building over several decades. It was presented during the summit’s awards ceremony attended by business leaders, policymakers and public officials including President John Dramani Mahama.
For many within Ghana’s business community, this recognition reflects a career that has spanned multiple generations of economic transformation in the country. Throughout that period, Sir Raj Mohan has been associated with the growth of healthcare distribution, pharmaceutical manufacturing and consumer health products while helping build one of Ghana’s longest-standing healthcare enterprises.
Industry observers note that his influence extends beyond the growth of a single company. Through the development of distribution networks, investment in local capabilities and a long-term approach to business stewardship, he has contributed to expanding healthcare access across different parts of the country.
Over the years, products associated with the Unichem and LUEX Healthcare portfolio – including LUEX Cough Syrup (Cough & Cold Solutions for the whole family), Diclolex (for pain relief) and Wormbat (a dewormer for the whole family) – have become familiar names in many Ghanaian households. Their longevity in the market reflects a broader commitment to consistency, quality and consumer trust, values that have frequently been associated with Sir Raj Mohan’s leadership philosophy.
Accepting the award, Sir Raj Mohan emphasised the achievement’s collective nature: “No lasting achievement is the work of one individual. Our father, the late and great Dr. Mohan, arrived in Africa 6 decades ago with a vision to heal lives and touch souls.
I have been fortunate to work alongside dedicated colleagues, partners and healthcare professionals whose commitment has made this journey possible. This recognition belongs to everyone who contributed to building and sustaining the institutions we serve today”.
Those who have worked closely with him often describe his leadership style as measured, values-driven and focused on the long-term. Throughout his career, he has advocated for strong governance, responsible growth and the importance of building businesses that can endure beyond their founders.
Also present at the ceremony was Jason Nana Yaw Mohan, Chief Executive Officer of Unichem Industries and a member of the third generation of leadership within the family enterprise.
Reflecting on the award’s significance, he spoke about the distinction between business success and lasting impact.
“Achievements are important, but institutions outlive achievements. What is being recognised today is not simply a successful career. It is the patient work of building trust, creating opportunities and contributing to sectors that affect people’s everyday lives,” he added.
“The true test of leadership is whether the value created continues long after the individual steps away. Businesses that endure, healthcare systems that strengthen communities and opportunities that empower future generations are ultimately the measures by which legacies are judged.”
The award comes at a time when Ghana’s healthcare sector continues to evolve, with increased emphasis on local manufacturing, supply-chain resilience and healthcare accessibility. Industry participants view the recognition as an acknowledgement of leaders who helped lay some of the foundations upon which the sector continues to build.
For Unichem Ghana Group, the moment represents not only a recognition of past achievements but also a reminder of the responsibility carried by future generations of leadership as they seek to build upon an established legacy.
As the ceremony concluded, many attendees viewed the award as recognition of a broader contribution: one that spans enterprise, healthcare, employment creation and development of institutions designed to serve society over the long – term.
