Viral Ghana fan 'powder guy' appeals for support to attend Black Stars' Colombia clash

Kailani Ibrahim Kpa, popularly known as “Powder Guy”, has appealed to the Ghana Football Association, the government and corporate Ghana for support after exhausting his personal funds while following the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.Kpa has become one of the tournament’s most recognisable supporters after television cameras repeatedly captured him blowing white powder into the air during Ghana’s group-stage matches. His passionate celebrations quickly went viral on social media, earning him widespread attention from football fans around the world.In a social media post, the supporter revealed that he had financed his entire World Cup journey himself, securing his own United States and Canadian visas before paying for flights from Accra to Toronto, then travelling on to Boston and Philadelphia to cheer on the Black Stars.He described the 2026 World Cup as the most expensive tournament he has attended but said supporting Ghana remained a labour of love.Having now run out of funds, Kpa is appealing for assistance to enable him to continue following the Black Stars in the knockout stage.He is seeking support in the form of a flight, hotel accommodation and a match ticket for Ghana’s Round of 32 clash against Colombia at Kansas City Stadium, stressing that he is not asking for cash.Kpa also noted that several Ghanaian supporters who have travelled to back the team may require similar assistance as the tournament progresses.His appeal has generated widespread discussion online, with many fans praising his commitment after becoming one of the faces of Ghana’s support at the World Cup.The Black Stars reached the knockout stage after finishing third in Group L with four points, following a victory over Panama, a draw with England and a narrow defeat to Croatia.Carlos Queiroz’s side will face unbeaten Group K winners Colombia on Friday in Kansas City, with a place in the Round of 16 at stake.Kpa hopes to be among the Ghanaian supporters in the stands once again, continuing the energetic backing that has made “Powder Guy” one of the standout fan stories of the tournament.
