The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. , joined residents of Sogakope, Abor and Akatsi, together with security services, waste management agencies and other stakeholders, for the two-day National Day of Cleaning Exercise initiated by President under the theme, Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana After the Floods.”

Across the three districts, participants desilted drains, cleared refuse from public spaces, and cleaned streets and markets.

Hon. Gunu urged residents to make environmental cleanliness a daily civic responsibility rather than an occasional exercise, stressing that keeping communities clean requires the active collaboration of government, traditional authorities, institutions and citizens.

To support the exercise, the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council donated wheelbarrows, Wellington boots and Aquatabs to strengthen sanitation activities and enhance community preparedness.

The Regional Minister expressed appreciation to the Chief Director of the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council, Alhaji Mohammed Avorna Akape, the Volta Regional Director of Environmental Health, Madam Stella Kumedzro, and the Regional Director of , Mr Pascal Agbagba, for their support.

He also commended the Municipal and District Chief Executives, security services, and volunteers for their contributions to the exercise.
