The Black Queens of Ghana surrendered top spot in Group D of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in Rabat on Sunday.A first-half penalty from Marie Ngah Manga proved decisive as the Indomitable Lionesses secured a second successive victory to move within touching distance of the quarter-finals, while the Black Queens now face a crucial final group match against Mali.The result extended Cameroon’s impressive run against Ghana in what was the 10th meeting between the two sides at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations since 1998.Cameroon made the breakthrough in the 19th minute after a Video Assistant Referee review awarded the Central Africans a penalty.In-form forward Manga calmly converted from the spot to score her third goal of the tournament, with all of Cameroon’s goals in Morocco having come from the striker.Cameroon now top Group D with six points, three more than Ghana in second. The Black Queens could lose their spot in second place depending on the outcome of the other game between Mali and Cape Verde tonight.
