Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has reiterated Ghana’s determination to deliver an impressive performance against Wales as the Black Stars continue their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will face Wales on Tuesday in Cardiff in what will be their first of two final warm-up matches before travelling to North America for the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Ghana coach stressed that his side’s objective is not only to compete but also to play attractive football and secure victory.
“We will try and be the best team on the pitch [against Wales],” Queiroz said in a pre-match interview.
“The message is simple, we want to play great football [against Wales], we want to play to win and bring joy to our fans,” he added.
The match is expected to provide the Portuguese tactician with another opportunity to assess his squad and fine-tune his plans ahead of football’s biggest stage.
Ghana are also scheduled to face Jamaica on June 10 in their final preparatory fixture before the World Cup.
Queiroz is expected to use the two friendlies to settle on his preferred starting eleven and build momentum ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will come up against Panama, England and Croatia. Ghana will be aiming to progress beyond the group stage and make a strong statement when the competition gets underway later this month.
