Nations FC head coach Stephen Frimpong Manso says his outfit won the 2025-2026 MTN FA Cup competition to compensate their fans after the sides’ suffered relegation from the Ghana Premier League.The Abrankese-based outfit defeated Dreams FC 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. They took the lead in the 31st minute through Joseph Effah, but the advantage lasted only a short while as Dreams responded through Abdul Razak Salifu.Neither side could find a winner during the remainder of the match, forcing the final to be decided by a penalty shootout.Nations held their nerve from the spot to prevail 5-4, sparking celebrations among their players and supporters as they lifted the FA Cup trophy for the first time.Its a great feeling (to win the league last season and to win the FA Cup this season).for me, its very good, it doesnt matter what has happened.We needed to compensate the management and also our fansthey were all determined to play for this game.We had to win this game other than that it would have been very bad for us Frimpong Manso said.Having won the FA Cup, Nations FC will make their first CAF Confederation Cup appearance next season.The cup success provides a major boost for Nations FC after a disappointing league campaign that ended in relegation. The club will now turn their attention to competing in the CAF Confederation Cup while pursuing an immediate return to the Ghana Premier League.
