The 5th edition of the West Africa Pharma & Healthcare Expo has opened in Accra, bringing together more than 100 exhibitors from across the globe and reinforcing Ghana’s position as a growing hub for healthcare investment, pharmaceutical trade and medical innovation in West Africa.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of ACE Group, Praveen Singh, said the three-day exhibition is expected to attract between 4,000 and 5,000 professional visitors, including healthcare practitioners, pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, investors, policymakers and technology providers from across the region.
He noted that Ghana’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sector continues to present significant opportunities for international partnerships, local manufacturing, technology transfer and investment, driven by increasing healthcare awareness, expanding hospital infrastructure and growing demand for quality medicines and medical equipment.
“The healthcare sector remains one of the most promising sectors not only in Ghana but across the entire West African region,” Mr. Singh said.
According to him, the exhibition was launched in 2022 to create a platform that connects healthcare stakeholders in West Africa with global manufacturers, innovators and solution providers.
He explained that what began with a team of five people has evolved into one of the region’s leading healthcare exhibitions, attracting participants from multiple countries and serving as a gateway for business partnerships and industry collaboration.
Mr. Singh attributed the growth of the event to a philosophy of continuous improvement.
“We do not see anyone as our competitor. Our biggest competitor is ourselves. Every year we challenge ourselves to do better than the previous year by improving the quality of exhibitors, attracting more professional visitors and creating more business opportunities,” he stated.
The exhibition is being organised by Astrovision Global FZCO, Dubai, and ACE Group under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, with support from the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and several industry associations.
Mr. Singh disclosed that the success of the Ghana event has enabled the organisers to expand similar healthcare exhibitions to countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Malaysia and the Philippines, with plans to enter Zimbabwe and Botswana in the coming years.
He further revealed that the organisers have grown from a five-member team at inception to more than 50 professionals specialising in international sales, exhibitor relations, marketing, conference management, buyer programmes and government engagement.
“This growth reflects the confidence the industry has placed in our vision and our ability to deliver world-class exhibitions year after year,” he said.
The expo features exhibitors from countries including India, Turkey, the United States, Egypt, Italy and Ghana, showcasing pharmaceutical products, medical devices, laboratory technologies, healthcare equipment and manufacturing solutions.
