John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has called on voters to accept any items offered by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but to vote against them in the upcoming December 7 elections. Speaking at the NDC’s final rally at Zurak Park in Madina on December 5, 2024, Dumelo rallied the crowd, urging them to support change and vote for the NDC.
Addressing the crowd, Dumelo said, “When they bring the money, take it. When they bring the rice, take it. When they bring the salt, take it. When they bring everything, take it and vote against them. On the 7th of December, we are resetting Ghana in the right direction.” He called on Ghanaians to vote massively for NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama and himself as MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
His remarks followed controversy surrounding the December 2 special voting exercise, where Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the incumbent MP and NPP candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, was seen distributing packs of rice to voters at the Legon Police Station polling center. This has sparked widespread criticism, prompting Dumelo to file a formal complaint with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
