Nigerian musician Kcee has shared a deeply emotional message on social media while mourning the late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, reflecting on love, appreciation, and how people often express praise too late usually after someone has passed away.
In a post shared on Instagram, the singer admitted that people are often “too good at eulogies… and too late with love,” pointing out that many individuals only express kind words when someone is no longer alive to hear them.
He further questioned why people often wait until death before expressing appreciation and love, asking why kind words and support are reserved for funerals instead of moments when people are struggling, building their lives, or battling doubts privately.
According to him, loved ones including friends, family members, neighbours, colleagues, husbands, and wives are still here and able to hear, feel, and be strengthened by words of encouragement and support.
“We are all guilty. We’re too good at eulogies… and too late with love, A lot of people have beautiful things to say about you. But they save it for your funeral. They wait until you’re gone to post the “RIP,” the long thread, the “he was like a brother to me,” he wrote.
Kcee encouraged people to change that habit, urging them to be more intentional with their love, presence, and support for family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours.
He noted that simple words of encouragement, checking on others, and showing kindness could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, especially for those silently battling personal struggles.
“The best ‘RIP’ is a life well-loved before it ends,” he stated.
He ended his emotional message with a condolence note, writing: “Rest in peace Alex.”
This comes after the actor’s family officially confirmed his passing on Wednesday, May 13, revealing that he died following complications arising from kidney cancer. The family disclosed that he had been battling the illness, which eventually led to his demise.
