Arsenal defender William Saliba has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year deal that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2027.
The 22-year-old French centre-back established himself as a key player for the Gunners last season after making his first-team debut in August. Saliba featured in 33 games, including 27 Premier League appearances, and impressively contributed three goals across all competitions.
Manager Mikel Arteta expressed his delight at securing Saliba’s long-term commitment, stating, “To have William extend his contract with us was something we have wanted to do for a long time. William proved last season just how good and important he is to our squad.”
Arteta praised Saliba’s abilities at such a young age and highlighted his potential for further development. With his new contract in place, Arsenal looks forward to working with Saliba and harnessing his talent in the coming years.
Saliba’s breakthrough season followed successful loan spells in French football after joining Arsenal from St Etienne for £27 million in 2019 during Unai Emery’s tenure as manager.
His performances caught the attention of top European clubs, including Real Madrid and PSG, who reportedly showed interest in acquiring his services.
In addition to Saliba’s contract extension, Arsenal secured another long-term commitment from forward Reiss Nelson, who also signed a new four-year deal with the option for an additional year.
