Spain international of Ghanaian descent Nico Williams is likely to stay at Athletic Bilbao despite huge interest from giants Barcelona.
The Catalans has been chasing Williams in the ongoing transfer window following his top-class performance for both club and country. But it now appears the highly-rated winger is staying put at Athletic Bilbao.
Aside Barcelona, French giants Paris Saint Germain have also been tracking the enterprising winger but per reports in Spain, Williams is not interested in a move to the club.
Despite huge interest, the highly-rated winger has joined his Athletic Bilbao teammates for preseason training as they gear up for the new season.
The 22-year-old is already looking forward to the upcoming campaign as he aim to make impact.
“I’m back! I’m really looking forward to this season. Vamos, Athletic!” he told Athletic Club channels.
Williams made 31 appearances, scored five goals, and assisted 11 in the 2023/24 La Liga.
He played an integral role to help the Spain national team clinch the 2024 Euro championship, defeating England in the final last month.
