The Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College (WIUC) Ghana, Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn has hinted that his outfit will soon roll out six new post-graduate academic programs in the areas of; MSc. Nursing, MPhil in Nursing, MPhil in Midwifery, MSc Cyber Security, MSc in Business Computing, and MSc in Information Technology.

According to Dr. Fynn, the six new post-graduate academic programmes have been developed and submitted to the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the University of Ghana (UG) for review and approval.

Speaking in an interview with GBCGHANAONLINE’s Franklin ASARE-DONKOH on the sidelines during the college’s 16th congregation held at the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry Auditorium in Accra explained that the six new post-graduate academic programmes were summited to the two mentor academic institutions within May and October 2023.

He said the two mentor academic institutions, ie UCC and UG, have completed the program review and have since submitted their recommendations. The schools/faculties have responded and addressed the areas of concerns raised. All six programmes have been re-submitted to the mentor institutions to grant the programme’s affiliation before it will be sent to the Ghana Tertiary Educational Council (GTEC) for accreditation.

“So we are very hopeful that all the paperwork will be completed by the end of the year to enable us to roll out these new academic programmes come 2024/2025 academic year” he added.

On the issues of perceived high fees charged by private tertiary educational institutions, the Chancellor of WIUC Ghana maintained that fees charged by his outfit the moderate among most of the privately owned tertiary educational institutions in Ghana today.

“We at the WIUC Ghana believe that everyone desirous of pursuing higher education should be allowed to achieve that dream. Thus our fees have been the lowest among most of the universities. What we charge students doesn’t match the kind of facilities and teaching we are offering.” Dr. Fynn reiterated.

He announced that due to the current economic difficulties faced by the country, WIUC Ghana has reduced its course fees for post-graduate programmes from ghc40, 000 to ghc18, 000. He, therefore, called on past and immediate undergraduates to take advantage of the reduced offer to end a post-graduate certificate.

The Chancellor of WIUC Ghana admonishing the class of 2023, said “As you depart from the gates of WIUC Ghana, we hope that the Graduating Class of 2023 will go into your various places of work with a high sense of integrity, grit, and innovation in your approach to real-time challenges.”

The theme for the 16th congregation ceremony was “Redefining the Boundaries of Tertiary Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
