(Photo by Scott Winters/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images)Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew believes Ghana’s defensive performance was a positive takeaway from their World Cup campaign, despite the team crashing out in the Round of 32 following a 1-0 defeat to Colombia.Speaking in a post-game press conference with Sporty TV, Ayew acknowledged the progress made under recently appointed head coach Carlos Queiroz while highlighting areas that still need improvement.We have a new manager; he just came two months ago trying to install his style, and people are adjusting. You dont adjust within one month or two months; football doesnt work like that.You could see that defensively, we were better, but we fell short a bit offensively, so we have to find the right balance. The manager needs time; hes a very good manager,” Jordan Ayew said.The defeat ended Ghana’s campaign and likely brought an end to Ayew’s World Cup journey. The 34-year-old has featured in three editions of the tournament 2014, 2022 and 2026 and may have played his final match on football’s biggest stage.The Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Queiroz expected to continue his project of reshaping the team.
