Lawrence Ati-Zigi receiving treatment against PanamaGhana first choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi is racing against time to face England next in the second Group L fixture at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.The St Gallen gloveman was substituted during the first half break in Wednesdays 1-0 win over Panama in Toronto.Ait-Zigi went down three times for treatment in the first half which included a prolonged break after he was clattered by Carlos Harvey when he went for an aerial challenge inside the box.He was in trouble as he constantly looked to the bench through the latter part of the first half.The technical team took the decision to replace him with locally-based goalkeeper Benjamin Asare who proved a worthy replacement.Ghana went on to snatch the points late on in the game when Caleb Yirenkyi tapped into an empty net from two yards.Coventrys Brandon Thomas-Asante, whose energy and pace made a huge difference in the last half hour, escaped down the right to send the ball into the six yard box.The Black Stars are second in the pool behind England on goal difference.
