Youth Entrepreneurship Takes Center Stage: GEA and Mastercard Foundation Support 100 in Oti

The Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), together with the Mastercard Foundation has presented start-up kits to some 100 young persons in the Oti Region.

The programme marked a significant milestone in the agency’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and job creation.

The ceremony, held at Dambai in the Oti Region, aimed to equip beneficiaries with essential tools and resources to kick-start their businesses.

The start-up kits include sewing machines, hairdressing tools, among others.

Speaking at the event, Regional Director of GEA, Mr Collins Kwamikorkor, underscored the agency’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and innovation.

“This initiative is part of efforts to unleash the potential of young entrepreneurs in the Oti Region, we believe that with the right support, they can drive economic growth, and transformation,” he added.

Mr Kwamikorkor had advised beneficiaries of the start-up kits to make the most of the opportunity provided by President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia’s initiative.

He said the initiative was part of the government’s efforts to empower young entrepreneurs and promote economic growth.

Mr Charles Gyamfi Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East urged the beneficiaries to ensure that the start-up kits and financial support received are used efficiently to grow their businesses.

“Seek mentorship and guidance,” the MCE leverage the expertise of business advisors and mentors to navigate challenges and make informed decision, adding that, they should stay focused and determined to overcome obstacles, and stay committed to achieving their business goals.

Ms Gertrude Kumah, a beneficiary, said she was grateful for the opportunity, added that the start-up kits would help her establish fashion business and create jobs for others.

Madam Boanya Elizabeth and other beneficiaries have also expressed appreciation to authorities for empowering them with entrepreneurial skills and resources.

The benefits of the initiative include job creation and employment opportunities, economic empowerment for young people, boosting local economic growth and development to the country.
