Ghana’s senior women’s national team has been named among the nominees for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.
The Black Queens are nominated in the year under review following their performances in friendly and international competitions.
The nomination is a recognition that highlights the team’s impressive resurgence and outstanding performances over the past year.
Ghana is joined by Algeria, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa.
Led by Kim Lars Bjorkegren once again, the team competed at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which was staged in Morocco.
Ghana exited the competition in the quarterfinals after losing to Malawi, missing out on an automatic qualification to the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
However, the Black Queens beat Côte d’Ivoire to book a place in the Inter-Confederation Play-Off tournament, which is scheduled for later this month in Morocco.
