Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has revealed that she faced early doubts from key figures within the music industry, including being told directly that she would not succeed.
In an interview with Kafui Dey, the artist said a prominent industry figure once told her “it is not going to work” during the early stages of her career.
“I was there and someone, i’m not gonna mention the person’s name, said it to my face, lady, it is not going to work” she shared

Despite the criticism, Wendy Shay said she remained confident in her path and urged her former label boss, Bullet, not to be discouraged. She said Bullet ultimately chose to trust his instincts and faith over industry pressure, a decision she believes contributed to her eventual breakthrough. “I told Bullet not to listen to the person that i’ll be a hit”.
An industry gatekeeper told Bullet @wendyshaygh was not going to make it, in her presence.
