The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) has played a pivotal role in transforming Ghana’s financial ecosystem. In recent years, the increasing presence of women in the financial sector has proven to be a powerful catalyst for innovation and progress.
GhIPSS is at the forefront of this shift, championing a revolutionary movement that begins with its leadership. With the recent appointments within its C-suite executive team, there is a clear affirmation of a changing narrative, one that embraces diversity, inclusion, and forward-thinking leadership.
These accomplished women have served in various leadership capacities and have significantly contributed to the transformation of the interbank payment system in Ghana.
They are:
Eunice Amewu Nyadu
Eunice Amewu Nyadu is a seasoned finance and strategy executive with more than 25 years of cross-sector experience spanning payments, fintech, manufacturing, audit, strategy, and corporate leadership. She is widely respected for her expertise in financial governance, enterprise performance, and institutional growth, with a strong track record of building systems that align financial discipline with long-term strategy.
She currently serves as Chief Finance Officer at Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), where she provides strategic financial leadership in support of the continued evolution of Ghana’s national payment infrastructure.
Eunice is one of the pioneering leaders of GhIPSS, having previously served as the Founding Head of Finance, Strategy, and Procurement during the organisation’s formative years. In that role, she played a central part in establishing GhIPSS’ core finance, procurement, HR, and administrative systems, helping to create the strong operational foundation that has supported the organisation’s growth into a critical national financial infrastructure institution.
Her early contributions were instrumental in the development and rollout of key national payment systems, including electronic clearing platforms, card-based systems, and interoperability infrastructure. During this period, she also helped drive 900% revenue growth over five years and supported the negotiation and securing of a €7 million development financing facility to expand electronic payment infrastructure across Ghana.
Beyond GhIPSS, Eunice served as Chief Finance Officer and Group Head of Business and Strategy at Margins Group, where she led fundraising initiatives with global development finance institutions, drove enterprise-wide strategy execution, and contributed to the establishment of Ghana’s first internationally certified secure card production facility under the PCI framework.
She began her career at Nestlé and later moved to KPMG, where she built a strong foundation in audit, advisory, risk management, and financial reporting across sectors including banking, oil and gas, FMCG, and mining.
Eunice holds an MBA from Hull Business School, a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, and is an FCCA, Certified Balanced Scorecard Master Professional, and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor.
In her role as Chief Finance Officer, Eunice is focused on strengthening GhIPSS’ position as a leading payments infrastructure provider across Africa and a globally respected employer of choice. In her current role, her priorities are financial sustainability, infrastructure-led growth, performance excellence, innovative financing, and ecosystem development.
Her vision is to help position Ghana’s payments infrastructure as a globally competitive platform that drives inclusion, transformation, and regional integration.

Akosua Blay – Chief Business Officer
Akosua Blay is the Chief Business Officer at Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS), where she provides strategic leadership for business development and project execution across the organisation.
She is a seasoned financial services and payments executive with over 30 years of professional experience, including 18 years in the payment systems sector. She brings expertise in business development, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of national payment solutions.
Akosua joined GhIPSS in 2008 and has since played a pivotal role in the growth and adoption of digital payment services in Ghana. Over the years, she has held several leadership roles across the organisation, including Head of Clearing, Head of Relationship Management, Head of Real-Time Payments, and most recently, Head of Cards and Verified Payments.
She has been instrumental in the rollout and expansion of key national payment systems, including e-zwich, Automated Clearing House (ACH) Direct Credit and Debit, Mobile Money Interoperability (MMI), and GhQR. She also led efforts to support banks in migrating from manual clearing processes to the Cheque Codeline Clearing System, contributing to improved efficiency across the banking sector.
Her leadership in relationship management strengthened engagement with financial institutions and ensured effective communication of GhIPSS’ products and services at executive levels across the industry.
Prior to joining GhIPSS, she served as the first Treasurer of Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana Limited and held earlier roles at CDH Financial Holdings, where she built her foundation in treasury operations and financial markets.
Akosua holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Banking and Finance) and an Executive MBA (Finance), both from the University of Ghana Business School. She is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana.
Her vision for the role is to continue driving business growth, deepen adoption of GhIPSS platforms, and strengthen collaboration across the financial ecosystem to support innovation and efficiency in Ghana’s payments landscape.
She also sees strong value in building partnerships beyond Ghana, including collaboration with other countries, to encourage knowledge sharing, regional integration and the advancement of cross-border payment solutions.
Her career reflects sustained leadership in advancing digital payments and strengthening industry collaboration, positioning her to drive ecosystem development at GhIPSS.
Juliet Ackah-Nyamike – Chief Operating Officer
Juliet Ackah-Nyamike is a banking and payments operations executive with over 20 years of progressive leadership experience across digital payments, transactional banking, card systems management, and financial services operations.
She holds a Master of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana. She has also completed executive development programmes at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Visa Business School and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).
Prior to her current role at GhIPSS, Juliet held several senior leadership positions at Access Bank (Ghana) Plc, where she led key operational and business functions across digital banking, e-business operations, transactional services, and card and fintech partnerships.
Her responsibilities included oversight of card operations, ATM and electronic banking services, settlement and reconciliation processes, and digital channel performance in high-volume transaction environments. She also contributed to industry committees involved in regulatory policy discussions and ecosystem standards within Ghana’s payments landscape.
As Chief Operating Officer, Juliet’s vision is to ensure that strategy translates into disciplined execution and measurable system-wide impact. Her priorities are to strengthen reliability, resilience, and security across GhIPSS’ payment infrastructure; scale systems and processes to support a growing digital economy; deepen interoperability across banks, fintechs, mobile money operators, and regulators; and use data-driven management to improve service delivery, efficiency, and accountability. She is also focused on building a high-performance culture that supports operational readiness, innovation, and long-term trust in GhIPSS’ systems.
Juliet brings strong operational discipline, ecosystem awareness, and execution focus, positioning her to lead large-scale payment operations with structure, resilience, and performance accountability.
Mary Dei Sarpong – Chief Shared Services Officer
Mary Dei Sarpong is a visionary financial technology leader with over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. She has been at the forefront of advancing financial inclusion and digital literacy in Ghana, successfully leading initiatives such as LEAP, LIPW, and GSFP to provide underserved communities with access to essential financial services.
Her leadership was instrumental in the adoption of e-zwich, Ghana’s first biometric payment platform, which expanded access, enhanced financial literacy, and integrated digital payments into government systems.
She currently leads Shared Services at GhIPSS, where she oversees critical support functions that drive operational efficiency and service delivery across the organization. In this role, Mary focuses on strengthening internal systems, enhancing customer support, and enabling seamless execution across the national payments ecosystem.
Previously, she led Partnerships and Bulk Payments at GhIPSS, where she championed initiatives to improve clearing processes, enhance customer experience, and strengthen service delivery across high-volume payment systems.
A passionate advocate for collaboration and innovation, Mary has expertise in stakeholder engagement, policy development, and building sustainable financial ecosystems.
Her vision as Chief Shared Services Officer is to build a reliable, efficient, and future-ready support system that keeps the organisation running seamlessly. Her priorities include delivering consistent, high-quality services across facilities, fleet, and administration; strengthening operational controls; improving vendor performance; and driving cost efficiency.
She is also committed to fostering a safe, sustainable, and digitally enabled workplace, using data and automation to improve decision-making and employee experience. Ultimately, she seeks to position Shared Services as a strategic backbone that enables the organisation to grow with confidence and discipline.
